Reports: Branch Trip to Tioman

Image
Photo: HY Leong MNS Selangor Branch organised a 4 night 5 day trip (October 27-31, 2023) to Pulau Tioman on the heels of plans for a new airport in Tioman which was scrapped by the Federal Government of Malaysia after it had received objections following feedback from the public as it will damage coral reefs and marine life, one of the star attractions of Tioman.  MNS Selangor Branch facilitators HY Leong, Grace Chin, and Joseph Lee collaborated with local community - Tioman Marine Conservation Group, Ari's Activity Centre and Kelab Gunung Pulau Tioman together with Reef Check Malaysia and Green Fin member Moby-Tek Dive Centre and Nazri's Place for nature activities for its 16 members including learning how to monitor the health of coral reefs, eco-friendly snorkelling, a belated International Coastal Cleanup and documenting the special biodiversity of Tioman - from sea to mountain.  Congratulations to the members who enrolled in two courses and passed!
