Report: Long trip to Tasik Kenyir

Sixteen Selangor Branch Bird Group (SBBG) members embarked on an expedition to Tasik Kenyir, Terengganu (16/7/2023 – 19/7/2023) renowned for its diverse avian fauna, particularly hornbills. Organised by Heikal Pinto, members spent 4 glorious days staying on a floating resort in the middle of Tasik Kenyir with beautiful serene and idyllic view all round.

Strategically located close to the birding hotspots of fruiting fig trees and flight paths, we were all treated to mainly lowland forest birding and all 10 species of hornbills  except the Plain Pouched hornbills around Belum-Temenggor, much to the delight of everyone. A wild elephant was also sighted by a few very lucky members who had great shots of it from a boat across the lake.
