Report: Raptor ID Workshop

Members' Report
By Wong Shea Hong

This much awaited Raptor ID workshop (6/1/24 - 8/1/24) was moderated by Tan Gim Cheong a Raptor expert from the Nature Society (Singapore) Bird Group on site at Langkap paddyfields in Perak.

There was so much of invaluable sharing on Introduction to Raptors, Raptors migration and deep dive into Raptor Identification, Raptor Watching, Raptor Organisations & Events in Asia  and Satellite Trackings.

At the paddyfields, 24 MNS Selangor Branch Bird Group participants were treated to an amazing sunset roosting display of more than 200 Eastern Marsh and Pied Harriers and also hundreds of Asian Open Bills in flight formations. The cherry on the cake was the sighting of the Steppe Eagle perched on the oil palm fronds for the longest time for all to go crazy with camera clicks.
