Raptor Watch 2019 (20th Anniversary)

 

Organised by Malaysian Nature Society HQ with the support of MNS Selangor Branch.

Please join us as we celebrate 20 years of welcoming these majestic birds of prey to our shores on their perilous migration. MNS Selangor Branch will be represented by more than 100 members and volunteers.

MNS RAPTOR WATCH PROGRAMME (PUBLIC EVENT)

SATURDAY 9th MARCH
DAY PROGRAMME (9AM TO 5PM)
- Tanjung Tuan lighthouse compound is opened to the public to observe raptors flying in from Sumatra
- Merchandise, exhibitions, activities and games booths & stalls
- School programs at Kelab Pencinta Alam booth (Educational exhibition & Nature Bingo)
- Nature quiz at booth 12
- * Guided forest walks (Last walk at 3:30pm) (Register at MNS Nature Guides Selangor Branch booth 15)
- 11:30am Beach Clean-up (Register at MNS Marine Group Selangor Branch booth 2)
- * Guided beach & mangrove walks departs 12:30pm until 4:30pm (Register at MNS Marine Group Selangor Branch booth 2)

VIP PROGRAMME
2pm Arrival of Chief Minister of Melaka
2:15pm Welcome speech by MNS President
2:30pm Official launching Ceremony by CM of Melaka (at
PERHILITAN compound)
2:40pm VIP visits the Raptor Counting Team at
the Lighthouse
3pm Installation of IBA and Raptor Signage with VIP
3:20pm VIP visits the exhibitors
3:40pm Refreshment for VIP and delegates (Program
adjourns for VIP)

NIGHT PROGRAMME (6PM - LATE)
6pm Sungai Timun Glittering Fireflies Night Tour (departs
from Tanjung Tuan) Fee is RM70/child below 12 years
old and RM80/person above 13 years old. For

7:30pm Stargazing activity at Wildlife Department (PERHILITAN) compound (open to the public, no reservation required)

SUNDAY 10TH MARCH

9am Arrival of students & Registration
10 – 12pm Nature Quiz at booth 12
10am onwards School programs at Kelab Pencinta Alam booth (educational
exhibition & Nature Bingo)
2pm End of Programme

* Donation for all guided forest, beach & mangrove walks is RM1/child below 12 years old and RM2/person above 13 years old.
* For forest walks: wear covered shoes and bring drinking water.
* For beach & mangrove walks: wear footwear that you don’t mind getting wet, and bring drinking water.
