Report: Self-guided Botanical Walk

Reported by Yao Tze Leong

Date: 21st July 2024

Location: Taman Botani Putrajaya

It was a member only activity, 17 members signed up with 100 % turnout. Most members managed to cover a small section of the garden, namely the Visitor's Centre, Canopy Bridge, Heliconia Trail, Merbau Avenue and Victoria Lily Pond. Majestic trees of Sentul (Sandoricum koetjape), Jelutong (Dyera costulata) and Chengal were observed. A member, YM Liew with good knowledge in birds submitted her observation of 24 species to eBird Checklist. While binoculars are indispensable to observe flowers and fruits up in the tree, participants also realised that a having a pair handy is superb to read a faraway tree's tags!
