🌿 Wild Wonders is at Rimbun Dahan! 🐉

Join this excursion to find out more about the gardens of Rimbun Dahan, home to damselflies & dragonflies! Meet-and-greet two renowned conservationists, explore an arboretum, and discover the life in the ponds. 

This Wild Wonders excursion is organised by MNS Selangor Branch (MNSSB) and the MNSSB Flora Special Interest Group, in collaboration with Rimbun Dahan and Choong Chee Yen.

What's Included:

👣 Guided Arboretum Walk
Explore unique rainforest trees, understory plants, and water plants at pond edges that attract dazzling dragonflies and damselflies with Arboretum Curator, Angela Hijjas.

Angela Hijjas started the garden at Rimbun Dahan in 1990, converting the fruit orchard for an arboretum of SE Asian trees, and her home into an artists' residency programme. She studied geography and was influenced by early indigenous planters in Australia as a child. Her tree collection includes about 150 species of Dipterocarps, the tall trees of Malaysia's rainforest as well as understory plants like palms and pandans. She is an honorary member of MNS having served on the Selangor Branch committee, Council and the Board of Trustees.

🎤 Interactive Talk
Learn about these amazing insects in a fun, engaging session for all ages from Choong Chee Yen, Entomologist.

Choong Chee Yen is a retired academician. He was a lecturer of the Faculty of Science and Technology, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia from 1998 to 2023. He obtained his PhD from The University of Reading, United Kingdom in 1998. He has been studying dragonflies and damselflies for more than 20 years. He has described a handful of new dragonfly and damselfly species from Peninsular Malaysia and Borneo.
