Branch Trip: Guided Tour of the Biomedical Museum

Date: 25 June 2026, Thursday

Venue: Biomedical Museum, Jalan Pahang

Time: 10.15am to 12.45pm.

Step into a fascinating chapter of Malaysia’s scientific and natural history with an exclusive guided tour of the Biomedical Museum at the Institute for Medical Research, Jalan Pahang.

Discover the museum’s remarkable legacy in medical research and lifesaving discoveries, while gaining rare access to an extraordinary zoological collection featuring small mammals, reptiles, rodents, bats, and more.

Among the highlights are specimens collected by the late Dr Lim Boo Liat — pioneering Malaysian zoologist, mammalogist, and honorary member of the Malaysian Nature Society.

This special visit also marks the 73rd anniversary of the MNS Selangor Branch. On 27 June 1953, the Selangor Branch of the Malaysian Nature Society was established during the 6th MNS Annual General Meeting held at the Institute for Medical Research, making this visit especially meaningful as we return to where part of our history began.

Join us as we celebrate this important milestone and uncover the rich connections between Malaysia’s medical, zoological, and conservation heritage.
