Green Living SIG: Kedai Jalanan

Kedai Jalanan Universiti Malaya, a pop-up street ‘store’ for the homeless and urban poor, is back in action!

DATE: SUNDAY, 4 FEB 2024

TIME: 3.30 - 6 P.M.

LOCATION: JALAN PANGGONG KUALA LUMPUR, NEXT TO KAFEI DIAN.

(Accessible by public transport. Closest MRT and LRT stations are Pasar Seni)

MNS Selangor Branch’s Green Living SIG will once again be assisting them by redirecting wearable clothes and usable toiletries away from the waste stream to those who need it more.

Please hold on to the clothes and other items you have decluttered and are about to send for recycling or disposal.

We are collecting:

• Men’s clothes and unisex clothes such as t-shirts, shorts, jeans, and sweat pants.

• Bags, including tote bags

• Shoes and sandals, clean and in wearable condition

• Hotel toiletries, and any surplus/ unwanted/  unused toiletries including shampoo, soap, hand sanitiser, toothbrushes, and combs (opened bottles and tubes need to be sealed and spill-proof).

Unfortunately, we will not be accepting:

• Ladies’ party wear / formal wear / office wear

• Children’s clothes, books, or toys.

• Household items and appliances.

(Donations intended for women and children will instead be redirected to the Myanmar refugee community)

TO VOLUNTEER:

1. Please send a message to EeLynn Wong via Facebook to let us know that you are coming.

2. Show up at the location by 3.30 pm to help set up. Stay for as long as you are able. Letters of appreciation can be issued to volunteers (e.g. students) upon request.

TO DROP OFF ITEMS:

Show up at the location anytime between 3.30-4.30 pm to deliver your donations to the volunteers so we can arrange and display them.

IF YOU HAVE DONATIONS BUT ARE UNABLE TO DROP THEM OFF ON THE DAY ITSELF:

Send Ee Lynn (MNS Green Living - Selangor Branch) a message on FB or IG or email her at wongeelynn@yahoo.com to arrange for delivery or collection between 1-4 Feb 2024.

Let’s reduce waste, reuse, repurpose, and redirect resources, and support more vulnerable members of our community!

Thank you and see you there!
